The Lompoc Valley is located on the central cost of California. Known as the "flower seed capital of the world," Lompoc is also famous for its diatomaceous earth mines, and is home of the Western Spaceport. Vandenberg Air Force Base is utilized as a polar orbit launch facility and occupies nearly 100,000 acres of rangeland.

Four miles east of Lompoc is La Purisima Mission which Sunset Magazine has called "the largest and most complete historic restoration in the West." La Purisima Mission State Park is one of only two missions owned by the state. The mission Fiesta is held each year in May. Lompoc's Carnegie Library is the home of the museum which contains aerospace exhibits and artifacts excavated from local Chumash Indian villages.

La Purisima Golf Course has hosted the LPGA Santa Barbara Open and is available to the public. The annual Flower Festival is held in June which consists of a parade, greenhouse tours and a carnival. Many local wineries make for an enjoyable days tour. Because of it's mild, even climate, Lompoc is the perfect central coast getaway and the public accessed beaches are just a few moments away.
